SMC³ Announces New President Andrew Slusher
Peachtree City, Ga. – The SMC³ Board of Directors announced today that after an extensive search, Andrew Slusher has been selected to become the next president of the organization.
Slusher’s appointment is part of a managed executive transition with Jack E. Middleton. After serving for nearly 20 years as president and CEO, Middleton has announced a future retirement.
A long-time veteran of the trucking industry, Middleton led the organization through two decades of unparalleled change and expansion. He ushered in cutting-edge IT products such as the industry-standard rate solutions CzarLite, RateWare® XL and Bid$ense, all of which aid LTL carriers, shippers and logistics providers in optimizing their supply chains and business processes. As part of Middleton’s passion and commitment to elevating knowledge across the supply chain, he initiated and guided SMC³’s industry educational offerings into premier North American supply chain events. He founded the organization’s two annual conferences, Jump Start and Connections, which provide the industry with strategic educational content and quality networking opportunities that differentiate SMC³ events from other U.S. supply chain forums.
Middleton’s values-based leadership has been of paramount importance to the organization’s success over this time. While the company’s goal is to elevate the knowledge base and the technological capabilities of the transportation industry, Middleton has guaranteed that SMC³’s commitment to its employees and customers takes precedence. Middleton has also woven the organization into the fabric of the community, partnering with community-support organizations in SMC³’s two locations. In Peachtree City, he serves as president of Bloom, an organization serving the needs of abused and neglected children. Middleton will remain with SMC³ as CEO until his future retirement early next year.
“Leading the SMC³ organization for almost 20 years has been the highlight of my career,” said Middleton. “Andy is the ideal leader to take SMC³ into the future. His leadership style and deep industry and international experiences uniquely qualify him to step into this role. I look forward to working closely with Andy during this transition, and I am confident he will lead the organization to new heights.”
Slusher joins SMC³ with more than 25 years of experience in the travel and transportation industries; he has a proven track record of delivering solid results during robust and turbulent times. During his career, he has held leadership positions with American Airlines, Sabre Holdings, YRC Worldwide and MIQ Logistics. Slusher also provided consulting services to the travel and transportation industries through his own company, Global Revenue Solutions, LLC. His experience is wide ranging and includes finance, information technology, marketing, pricing and revenue management, process improvement, sales, and strategy.
“It’s an honor and privilege to join SMC³ and be a part of the team leading industry collaboration across carriers, shippers and logistics service providers,” said Slusher. “I look forward to working with the SMC³ team and our customers across the supply chain to bring new levels of value to the industry through collaborative technology solutions and educational offerings.”
In an additional SMC³ organizational change, Danny Slaton, executive vice president of business and product development, will continue his leadership role in the organization as executive vice president and chief operating officer.
